What's new

Help me identify this scent?

The other day I was walking down wind of a well dressed gentleman, and couldn't help but notice the scent he was wearing. At first I thought it was his aftershave but it seemed a little too strong, so I'm thinking it was cologne. The smell itself was rather woodsy, kind of like cedar, and was strong without being pushy and overbearing. Let me know if any of you know what this might be, I'd like to see if I can get me hands on it!

Unfortunately that's a little too vague. I probably have about 40 different scents that could be described as woodsy. Best bet would be to go to a department store or Sephora and ask them to show you some popular woodsy scents. Unless the guy you smelled is really into unique niche fragrances like we discuss here you might just get lucky.

Off the top of my head from the last time I was in Sephora I would ask to smell John Varvatos (Vintage, Artisan and Regular), Gucci Pour Homme I, Terre d'Hermes and Bvlgari Man. These are all pretty popular and widely available.

Good luck sir!

What color suit was he wearing?
Did he have a mustache? I think its easier to find him by your description than finding his fragrance.

Two OK ones with cedar are also Atlas Cedar by Jean Charles Brosseau and Tam Dao from Diptyque.

and Notre Flore Cedar from L`Occitane of course

Unless someone has a very exacting nose and can describe a scent in great detail, no one will be able to pin it based on a description. There are probably 300+ scents that guy could have been wearing.

All is not lost, as suggested above, go to Sephora or Macy's and smell stuff. There's a fairly good chance he was wearing a popular scent of the type Sephora and Macy's sell.

If not, you'll likely find something else you like.

The only way to know for sure is to ask the guy.
