Help me find a new Aftershave Balm

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get an aftershave balm after I have come back to shaving rather then using a trimmer.

I am looking for something to get the sore feel off my skin after a shave.

I am thinking of buying either:

Geo F Trumper Skin Food

or

Nivea For Men Aftershave Balm Sensitive Skin (I have read some good reviews about this one)

Or if you guys have other suggestions I am happy to have a look.

Thanks

The new Nivea (Active Comfort) is horrible; but Nivea Post Shave Alcohol and Dye Free is excellent.
You can get it from eBay (3 bottles for about >$16.) Search Nivea Post Shave Alcohol and Dye Free.
The seller is meci. I've done business with meci, good outfit, excellent product, and free shipping.

If you want an excellent skinfood for little money, try Weleda Skinfood via Amazon. I use it at night
and a very light coating of it atop my Nivea in the morning.

Witch hazel is a great skin toner to use before using a post-shave product.

Nivea sensitive is great. Afta also works surprisingly well for how cheap it is. Those 2 are my go to balms.

Krampert's Acadian Spice Bay Rum. It's a splash, as soothing/healing as anything I know of, balms and wax included.

Ihave both Nivea Sensitive and GFT Skin Food both great balms. I prefer GFT though. Also look into new Proraso balms, Pre de Provence balm and invest in some Thayers witch hazel lotion

Thanks for the replies guys.

I forgot to mention I am in the UK :)

Looks like everyone is for both Nivia and GFT Skinfood. Which leaves in the same position as before lol.

I may get both then decide which I like for the longer run.

Buy a few to try and whichever don't make the cut, whether it be due to lack of performance or smell, kindly PIF to friends or family. Even those outside the wet shaving world need ASB, probably more so!

Good point, I do use both as well. Skin food seems pricy but you use very little. Both are good. So again, you are right where you started.
Since Nivea is fairly inexpensive you could get both.

Agree with the Nivea Sensitive Balm.Great price and works as well as the more expensive balms. If you can find it,Neutrogena's Sensitive Post Shave Balm is great too.And Clinique's Post Shave Healer is awesome, but a it's pricey. $jj-1678_1z.jpg

Nivea sensitive has been my favorite for years. Worked amazing well even when I was shaving with an electric. Does an excellent job of soothing irritation.

AOS are the best balms I've used.

Nivea is ok

GFT Lime very thin and watery, not like Nivea and nowhere near as good as AOS

YMMV

Nivea has a lot of fans, but allergic reactions to it have also been reported on the B&B boards (your's truly had a terrible reaction to it). I use Gilbert Henry Bay Rum ASB. The scent is wonderful, it soothes and does a remarkable job of removing redness and irritation, and it dries without being oily at all. I find that the scent fades fairly soon, so it doesn't create a conflict if I want to add a cologne or aftershave splash later.

The Coral Skin Food is great in the summer in the UK, but just about any other time you're going to need something more protective and more moisturising.

The Nivea I could never get on with even though I rate their products highly. I've recently discovered L'Oreal Hydra Sensitive Men Expert 24hr balm. It's great for dry/sensitive skin and works wonders in the winter. About the same price as anything from Nivea. Look for it in super markets and you should be able to get it even cheaper than the normal price.

My favourite of all though is Roger & Gallet's L'Homme ASB. I hate anything with menthol in, but this really does go on smoothly and calms the face down. It has no where near the amount of menthol that Proraso products do and it worked a treat paired with some good quality soaps (DR Harris, Creed).
