Help me fill it up

I've acquired a vintage travel set (eBay seems full of them), and while at first I looked at it as a collector's piece to be restored to its original contents, once I received it I could see the practical uses for transporting a shave kit.

I've had the same grade 1 buzz cut for the last twenty years so I quickly dispensed with the brush which was replaced with T&H West Indian AS Balm, and the comb's position was occupied by a styptic pencil.

My R41 nestles between the two chrome pots as tho it was made to so while I could replace them entirely with a shave stick and modern travel brush I'd like to keep them.

The pots will accommodate a Palmolive shave stick, but is there an alternative in a lime scent? I thought perhaps of decanting a little shaving cream into a small plastic bottle, is this feasible?

The other pot is home to a shaving brush, which while serviceable I'd prefer to replace with a new badger brush. The pots' dimensions are 30mm wide by 80mm high. Both of mine are too wide.

Finally there's a soap dish measuring 80mm x 60mm x 25mm which should take a hand soap, and there are a few lime soaps available from T&H, GFT etc - they don't give the individual tablet's dimensions though.

I'll probably need to contact manufacturers/retailers to find products that'll fit, but would appreciate any heads up B&B members could give me.

Check out the Dove stainless steel travel shave brush. Its 19mm, silvertip badger. Its the best travel brush I've ever seen. Its solid, you could drive a tank over it without hurting the brush. It would fit very nice in that kit. Its a bit expensive, but I'm sure this brush would last 2 or 3 lifetimes. Check it out here. :thumbup1: www.classicshaving.com

It's certainly one to look at - I may have to give up looking for a brush that'll fit the canister - 30mm seems to be the minimum base width for brushes. Of course I could shave (no pun intended) a little off the sides but that could quite easily mar the handle.

You are assembling quite a nice shave kit there! Please provide us with updates as Im sure you have just raised the bids on eBay on similar travel sets of this nature! All in good fun, Im looking forward to updates on your progress.

There are quite a few of these on UK eBay, and fairly cheap - this one lacks the mirror and razor and I paid 99p for it. Though they go for a bit more if they are complete - I've bought another smaller set (no soap dish) for £10, which is has a Gillette Tech and the mirror - though I have probably overpaid a bit for it.
