help me decide which soap

Which soap should I add to my Christmas list? I've narrowed it down to Mikes rose and cedarwood, mikes barbershop, or one of the razor rocks. This will be my first soap so I need some guidance. Thanks fellas!

I would pick mikes over razorock. Although razorock is a good product, I think there is an ingredient in it that irritates my skin. Mikes is now one of my favorite soaps, and has secured a permanent spot in my rotation.

I prefer razorrock over mike's. Had a terrible time getting the water ratio right and couldn't get a great lather to save my life with Mike's. RR, however, is next to impossible to achieve anything less than perfect lather.

Both companies make outstanding soaps. No doubt about it.

That being said, they perform a little differently depending upon how you like your lather.

The RazoRock La Famiglia and Artisan series are some of the best products I've ever used at any price. They create an outstanding lather that is very, very slick and provides outstanding cushion and skincare properties. I have somewhat oily Italian skin if that counts for anything. Both have fairly simple ingredients lists and whip up a wonderfully wet, dense lather with little effort.

Mike's produces a denser lather that isn't quite as slick, but extremely rich and stable none the less. Sometimes I feel like all the excess ingredients in Mike's is a little much. For all the excess ingredients in there, I'm not sure that it makes a real difference in the way my skin feels after a shave. Mike's soaps are very thirsty and take a little longer to hit the sweet spot.

Both are soaps that I wouldn't want my den to be without, but if you made me choose, I think I would have to keep the RazoRock.

Both are great soaps, but i prefer Mike's for the simple ingredients. Good luck, but you can not go wrong with either.

RazoRock has so many different styles, it's difficult to say. I prefer Mudder Focker over Mike's, but I like Mike's over some of the RazoRock soaps.

Wow that's a tough choice. I'd go with RR, except the Classic line, over Mike's, but I enjoy using Mike's also.

Mikes. Every Razorock product I've tried irritated my skin. Mikes is a fantastic product. My suggestion is buy a tin of mikes and when youre done with it buy a bar and smoosh it into the tin. Save some $$

In my den, it depends on the brush. With a TGN Finest, Mike's is no problem, at all.

As for skin effect, I'll give the edge to Mike's Barbershop. There's something in the Pepper-Orange scent that stings a bit.
I haven't tried the Rose-cedarwood, but it sounds inviting.

The tin that Mike's comes in is more satisfying that white plastic of the RR.

Everyone is going to have an opinion on this one, and everyone's ideas of what is the best if going to vary tremendously. As an example, one poster recommended Mike's Barbershop scent, and I think it's not a great scent at all. Who's right? We both are! Pick something that YOU think you'd like. For the las 10 months I spent a lot of time with so many different creams and soaps trying to find what worked best for me, and last week tried a cheap soap you can buy at Walgreens, Rite Aid or Walmart, and it is proving itself better than anything else I have every tried, even compared to products form artisan soap makers. You just have to do the leg work and figure out what works best for you! We also have different reasons on why we like certain products over others. Some make scent the most important factor, while others value lather, and others value the performance of the product. Experiment!

Hi Guys, a newbie here and was wondering where you guys get your supplies?

There are a lot of great vendors on here. Check out the vendors section. I have used West Coast Shaving, Bullgoose, Queen Charlotte Soaps, Mike's Natural Soaps, and only if it's a great deal that I can't pass up, I will use Amazon.

I'm gonna go with Mike's Rose and Cedarwood. I like helping out small business owners and I like that his products are natural and don't contain chemicals or anything. Thanks guys!
