Hard to say, but you are buying a set more suited to knife sharpening. A usual synthetic progression for razors start at 1000 grit.

i.e. 1-4-8-12 Naniwa or a 4-8 Norton. The exact progression is up to you though, and it is entirely possible the set up you mention would work. I haven't heard of anyone using those stone for razors either, but again it doesn't mean they won't work.

If anything a 10k or 12k might round out the set, but YMMV

I'd add some 0.5-micron chromium oxide paste, or something similar. You rub it on a 3-inch-wide balsa board, and when it dries, strop on the balsa. Then, you strop on leather. At that point, you're ready to shave a gnat's ears.

Turned out I got Shapton stones from Santa. :D The 1k, 4k, a 140 Diamond plate a stone holder and a 10x loupe.

I've got a poor mans strop kit coming from Whipped Dog so I'll have the balsa strops and CrOX etc. I'm looking forward to the next two weeks mail. :)
