What's new

Help I'm a newbie.

Those 2 Super Speed Flair tips are fine shavers and easily worth the price you paid for the lot. One of the others looks like a Single Edge (not my thing, so I can't help ID the razor). The Curve Fit probably takes proprietary blades, so it is really just a collector item. Nice haul!

Cool. Is there anything in there I can actually shave with?

Absolutely. The Gillette Flair Tip Super Speeds (on the far right and far left of the first picture) are excellent razors. Just buy some blades (Astra SP perhaps), twist the flared knob on the bottom to open the butterfly doors and put in a blade. Make sure to close the doors all the way. Then you are locked and loaded, ready to shave.

welcome to B&B. best of luck.
ps. Why not just buy a new razor?

First off, let me say, "Welcome to B&B!"

Absolutely! Both of the Superspeeds and the Gem single edge are good shavers! I personally prefer the DEs, but several guys around here are diehard SE fans. The Superspeeds will take any double edge blade, and single edge blades can typically be found at CVS or Walgreen's (assuming you're in the U.S.). Just don't try to use utility blades like you will find at Lowe's or Home Depot! They definitely aren't made for shaving!

Looks like you came out pretty golden on the price for the Superspeeds alone. Nice find! You can actually date the manufacture of the Gillettes by the date codes stamped on the underside of the head. You'll see a single letter in the top left corner of the blade bed, with a corresponding single number on the right side. Something like H 1. You can decipher what the date code means here: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/US_Gillette_Dating_Information . Have fun with your new ADs, which I'm sure will be on their way shortly!

Thank you so much for all the good info. I feel much better about my purchase now. I had hoped to get my dad's or grandpa's razor but no one knows what happened to all that stuff.

Welcome to B&B. Around here we love fun and all things traditional wet shaving. I may know a little bit about razors as some may agree so if u need help please dont hesitate to ask.

I see you did great, You have 2 1960's style Gillette Flair tip Super Speeds , a Ladies shaver Curvfit, and a Single edge-Contour GEM razor.
