Help IDing an old Pinaud bottle?

I recently purchased this bottle to have a glass bottle for my Veg. I at least wanted it to be a Pinaud bottle if I can't find a vintage Veg bottle. Embossed on the front “Pinaud/Paris Ney York London” and embossed on the base “Registered U.S. Pat. Off. Property of Ed Pinaud Inc./Ed Pinaud Inc”. Bottle is 7-3/8” tall and 2-1/4” in diameter.
Does anyone out there know what would have been in this? The top has a screw top gold plastic top, and it is definitely made to be something for an AS as the opening is small.

I hope someone can help. A recent thread on here about someone getting an old Veg bottle from his barber had me wondering if this had actually been a Veg bottle. Even if not, it will be a cool glassware bottle for my precious Veg.
Thank you.

I would guess Eau De Quinine, cool bottle.

Thank you. If it is in fact an Eau De Quinine bottle, I may just decant my EDQ into it instead and hold out for a vintage glass Veg bottle. I am also on the look out for a glass Clubman bottle as well, as I love that scent.

The old glass Veg bottle has the same shape as the current plastic one.

I have 3 sizes of the glass bottle you have: 7", 5.5", and 3.75".

Do you know what was in them? I notice yours have different caps from mine. I think yours are probably much older than mine, as mine seems to be a plastic cap in the same shape as the modern Pinaud caps.

I have no idea what was in them (I wish I did).

Mine do not have threads. Those are corks for wine and champagne bottles that I whittled down to fit.

I was in Lowes building supply today. They actually carry corks! In the section where the hinges are, they have a cabinet with assorted items in it, and one drawer was nothing but corks. I've been whittling wine corks down, but may go get a couple from them.

I think mine used to be a Pinaud Clubman bottle that was used by barbers. I have seen a bottle that looks very similar to it with a clubman label on it and "professional use" on the label. I may buy it just to compare the two and have a labelled clubman bottle.

Yes, I've seen those, but this gives me a good excuse to drink more wine and champagne.

GO BUY IT!!! You can't leave these things lying (laying?) around waiting for some non-shaver to use for dried flowers or something!!!

FTR, in the photo I posted the contents are (L to R) Clubman, Special Reserve, and Master's Bay Rum mixed with Superior 70.

Thanx for the info...I have the 5½ inch bottle and I recanted it (yes, this bottle has a small opening, but with a steady hand, but it can be done), with my one & only 'go-to' scent.. Citrus Musk (the addition of about 10 drops of glycerin per 6oz bottle greatly increases the moisturizing and toning aspects plus 2oz Royall Lymes 'kicks' this eau de cologne 'up a notch')!

Gorgeous bottles. I looked at flea markets and yard sales for years for a cool old Pinaud bottle. I finally found one in the most unlikely of places, my ex-wife's yard sale when I went to pick up my daughter. Just crazy..

Bumping an old thread again. Does anyone know what the bottle looks like that the original Clubman actually came in? When it was really just marketed for barber shops. And what type of lid or stopper was installed? Is it this type of bottle pictured with the "bouquet of flowers"? Or when they went from those to the type that looks like the 6oz modern plastic bottle shape? I am very interesed in decanting my Pinaud in the correct glass bottles when at all possible.

I am pretty sure the Clubman bottle looks the same. I also think that is one of the newer Pinaud scents, regardless of what there website says. Looking through old Sears catalogs, you can find Pinaud Lilac Veg, Hair tonic and perfume, but not Clubman.

Clubman arrived in 1937 if Drug and Cosmetic Industry vol 41, p504 can be trusted. The article describes "...new lines just being introduced by the House of Pinaud – Morning Canter and Clubman." Later it says that "Morning Canter is a crisp and invigorating scent. Clubman is definitely formal...." In 1938 both products won an Ail-American Package Competition gold medal, according to American Druggist vol. 97, p80.

No images, unfortunately, but the text mentions "Hand-polished bottles are molded in rugged, rounded lines — the kind of bottles men can hold. The caps are of brilliant brass." Apparently both lines also included aftershave, talc, and shaving cream. There was a special Christmas package in a "simulated hand-tooled Florentine leather chest", designed to double as a humidor. So the product announcement may have been timed for Christmas shopping. The article in Modern Packaging, vol. 11, p57 talks about "large, lacquered brass stoppers".
