What's new

help a newb out!

Hey folks,

very new here on B&B, and I am slowly exploring each forum on here and finding lots of answers and even more questions about things i considered only a little before. This has probably been asked before but could you guys recommend a good pen for everyday use. My "situation" or whatever you might call it is i work in an opticians and fill out alot of forms and various other hand written things, the pen would have to be black and ball point(alot of other pens like gel pens seem to smudge on some our laminated or glossy forms) and while it doesn't have to be cheap I don't want terribly dear either. In the past i have used a plain parker jotter which was definitely better than a disposable but im looking for a bit of variety now.

Cheers in advance for the suggestions!

I kinda like the PaperMate PhD

not expensive, specially if you shop "the bay". ergonomic, grippy. Main problem, not a FP

I own two non-fountain pens: A Zebra F-301 Ultra ball point and a Krone Cosmos Pluto roller ball. The Krone is great if you can find one.

I've gotten so that I really dislike writing with a ballpoint. However, I own two that might fit your requirements, both of which are pretty bullet-proof - a Fisher Space Pen and a Zebra F-701. The Zebra, especially, is very well designed and put together.

Now half as wise
All of the major players make ball points to match the FP and RB pens. Pelican, Sailor, Montblanc, Parker, etc.

Another option is to find a custom maker, a pen turner. Lots of people do this for a hobby and if you ask around you'll probably find someone near you, maybe even someone you know. I've done these before to give as gifts. Most take standard refills.

This is one my son gave me. The clip is a replica of his wings.
