What's new

Hello from Ontario, Canada!

Hey Guys, Finally decided to make the switch to proper wet shaving with proper hardware after just using disposables for years under running water and racking up some razor bumps. What do you all think about the setup below? Anything that I'm missing or could be improved on? Razor: http://www.italianbarber.com/merkur-33c-classic-double-edge-safety-razor Brush: http://www.italianbarber.com/vulfix-1000a-pure-badger-shaving-brush-ebony Aftershave: http://www.italianbarber.com/castle-forbes-1445-alcohol-free-aftershave-balm Cream: http://www.italianbarber.com/taylor-of-old-bond-street-shaving-cream-bowl-avocado-150g Blades: http://www.italianbarber.com/10-merkur-super-platinum-de-blades-1-pack-of-10-10-blades

Welcome fellow Ontarian!

You're off to a good start.
Love the 33c. It was my first razor and still my razor of choice.

However, I would drop the Merkur blades. There are better makes of blades available.
I suggest you replace the Merkurs with a blade sampler pack.

Let us know how it goes.

Welcome from a fellow GTA'er!!

This is a great site. Won't comment on your choices as I am still getting into the swing of things but I can comment on Joseph and Italian Barber. Placed an order last week and it was smooth and quick...he also is quick with replies.
I would suggest you get a sampler pack instead of 1 pack of Merkurs

My newbie set up is:
EJ De89
Semogue 1305 an now SOC
Proraso Green Tube, Cella, Razo Rock
Sampler Pack containing 5 different blade packs.

Welcome and good luck

Welcome! Good to see other people from Ontario making the switch to DE.

Good choices overall. One thing you should definitely change is the blades. Merkur are not well received here. They only have a few followers from what I can tell. Anyways it's better to get a blade sampler pack. The cheapest one on italianbarber will do as it has both astra and feathers.

Damn fine cream that is. I have it myself. It has great moisturizing qualities.

Welcome to B&B!:thumbup1: Each to their own but Merkur blades don't get much praise here. A blade sampler pack is the way forward. Other choices are excellent:001_smile

Welcome to B&B.
As has been said a sampler pack is best. Also personally I would switch out the Castle Forbes for some Nivea ASB, and spend the extra money on a better brush. But that is what I would do, aside that everything looks great.
