Heljestrand Model Details and Images

This MK No2 dropped through the letter box today. Needs a clean and hone before use. It measures 4/8, but might have originally been 9/16. I note there is no photo of an MK No2 in the Heljestrand wiki.

A time ago I found a spreadsheet with M.K.'s models, made a copy for my reference and used to maintain it with the ones that I own and what I saw on ebay/forums/etsy/tradera... it's a mess but I had fun.

I have a few Heljestrand razors that don't have a model number. They appear to be the same grind and size of the marked ones, but they differ. Eg, I have one with no model number similar to an MK 2 in size and grind, and yet another similar to a no. 8. Does anyone have info on Heljestrands with no model numbers?

I remember Arne saying that they weren't always very particular about stamping model numbers, not to mention that there was a lot of overlap on some models. I have a couple myself, that are basically identical to an MK 3 and an MK 5. Interestingly, both of those are ivory-scaled so it seems like the lack of model number isn't necessarily a mark of different quality.

Hello and good evening to all , I am a straight razor shaver from Belgium and I just wanted to add this 506 to the heap...

IMG_3939.jpeg

MK 7, half hollow, 4/8

No 24, quarter hollow, 3/8

from my 1957 catalogue:

MK 1, 3 and 5 were basically MK 2, 4, 6 with white scales, all full hollow
MK 8 4/8 and 5/8 were MK 7 with white scales, all half hollow, like MK 10 and 12
MK 22, 23, 24 are described as quarter hollow

best regards,
hans
