Headed to Seattle: any tea shop that can't be missed

While we were there a few friends and I went to a place caddy corner to the art museum. They seemed to have a pretty good selection of teas (loose leaf mostly) and gaiwans, and they give free tastings, but the after effects of whatever was in that tea were a bit odd. She said it was stevia, but let's just say the art was enhanced a bit.

I went to Floating Leaves and met Shiuwen and her son Konghai (sp?). We sat at the single table and drank some Muzha TGY that was delicious. Soon a couple of her regulars (Jason and his wife/SO who's name I can't recall). We all sat and drank some 2009 Buddha Hand High Mountain that was far far better than the last Buddha Hand I bought from her.

I'd never had a chance to sit and drink gong fu with other people and it was wonderful. Great conversation with strangers who felt like old friends after the first cup. Should I ever wind up in Seattle again you'll know where to find me

Thanks, Arghblech, for this report. Once or twice a year I visit Seattle, and I make it a point to visit Floating Leaves. Shiuwen is a charming tea host. She strives to sell excellent tea. I hope her business does well. ~grasshopper
