Having trouble in mustache area

Hey guys! I am fairly new to straights. About a month ago I purchased the Feather Artist Club SS and DX, both folding. I have been having better luck getting frustration free shaves out of the SS so far, but I have been trying the DX because I was told that it is closer to a real straight. I have been using Feather ProGuard blades and have been getting about 6-7 shaves out of each blade. I am having problems in my mustache area though. This has always been a sensitive area for me, even with DE's. Every time I use the DX I always get irritation on my mustache. I am asking for help in straight razor technique. I have a pack of Feather Professionals but those are going to remain unused until I can trust myself a little more with the ProGuards, unless I get an overwhelming response telling me to do otherwise. I am pretty confident in my lathering skills, just need some help in this sensitive area, and any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

In my opinion the Professional blades are nothing to be afraid of. I'm fairly new to straight shaving, and I've only used the Professional blades in my Feather AC SS.

The mustache can be tricky. I usually go in from the sides. When I've done both sides, I go in very lightly just under my nose, and then turn the blade downwards. For the second pass I just start at the top and go down, still with the turning of the blade motion. This seems to work for me.

I start centrally under my nose. Bite my upper lip into my mouth a bit to stretch the skin there and with the blade almost horizontal to my lip start the downward stroke from directly under my nose. The stroke itself rotates almost instantly from horizontal to the normal shaving angle when I reach my lip. I repeat this technique for each side of the moustache area but my stroke starts in the corner of the nostril and follows the lip down to the corner of the mouth at an angle. So basically my entire moustache area is shaved in 3 strokes. Nose to lip, nose to corner of mouth right and again left.
Minimising the amount if strokes in the area should help your sensitivity. So try your best to cover as much with a stroke as you can.
Also the pro blades might irritate less because they will require less pressure to shave.
i find the feather de blades I use in my shavette far less irritating than other blades simply because they are so awesomely sharp they just glide through my stubble with no pressure.
