Have you used the Feather D1 & D2 ?

Hi guys, I am looking or those of you that have used the D-1 and D-2 that can give a good side by side feedback on both. I have a D-1 and love it and am considering a D-2. Please let me know if you have tried both and what the difference is.
Thanks

(I know some of you are rich enough to have bought both)

I have used both but the thing is that with the AS-D1 there must have been some of them that had issues compared to other batches IMHO. On the one hand there are those who really liked the D1 and others who couldn't get a decent shave out of one. Normally I can get a good shave out of most razors, from very mild to very aggressive but the D1 just didn't shave at all. A friend of mine tried my razor and had the same experience, months later he got to use another one from a different person and he said to me that it was ok.

The AS-D2 that I have used for the last 4 months I would describe as very mild but very effective. There is not a lot of feedback during the shave, you have to find the optimal angle during the first few shaves (given the lack of noise when cutting the hair) and I find that it has a tendency to clog a bit if you use thick lather. I have to rinse just a tad more then with another razor. Then I started using the same kind of lather that I use when using a straight or Feather DX (somewhat thinner) and bingo!

Where this razor excels IMHO is that no matter how sensitive your skin is you it will give you a nice shave, no burn no matter if you do 2 or 5 passes, use light pressure of push down on it, even if you really put pressure on it I can't get it to cut me. Best results for me have been with Feather, Iridium and Personna Meds so far.

It's a expensive razor ($252 + postage here) but there have been several on BST forums as of late for great prices.

I owned both. Still using the D2. I liked the finish of the D1 - the satin look was nice. Blades lock into the D2 more precisely. Fit and finish are excellent. I'd say if you have not had an issue with the D1 there is no reason to move to the D2.

My experience is contrary to that of Snuff-Belgium in that the D2 does give audible feedback.

Both generations are mild shavers. I'd say the D2 is not quite as mild as the D1, at least it doesn't feel that way.

I have both. Never liked D1 since I can't get decent shave with it or more likely it won't shave at all. Then there is D2 which I found best razor so far at ones I used. Everything seems to be just perfect with this razor efficient enough but still mild.

Hi,

I have also have both, and I think that the new version gives a close shave than the first version, considering both mild razors. Mines give similarnfeedback when shaving, I mean, you can here how they are cutting the hairs whne you are close to your ears.

Bye!

About the audible feedback, maybe I'm not the best person to say anything about that, what with all the years of daily shooting my hearing isn't the best and that might be the reason. Since several others wrote that they have feedback ignore my comments about that please.
