What's new

Have you ever noticed?

I know there are some people on the forum who like Russian blades of Mostochlegmash factory (rather strange and hard to spell abbreviation for Russian). Some think they are superior to any other or at least not worst. But nobody seems to notice that quality of packaging at any stage is rather bad and width of cutting edges can be absolutely different between not only different blades but between different sides of the very same blade which could be seen with the naked eye. I could see the same difference at first glance between the cutting edges on a sample Merkur blade. May be I wasn't too careful but don't see anything like this on German Schicks, Feathers and Russian Gillette rubies. But nevertheless it seems that at least the last honing of these blades are good and they are sharp. So I can't feel any difference.

What do you think about this? I just can't understand why somebody could perceive any difference between different razor blades brands but doesn't see such obvious things.
Here is an example. It's one of my Voskhod razor blades which were bought right on Mostochlegmash and a Rapira supersteel blade
. Rather bad quality photos, sorry, but good enough to notice the difference.

I never looked that close at them but of the 40 or so blades I have used, Rapira SS provide a close, irritation free shave every time. They may not have the same bevel, but the edges are consistently sharp for me, and they are very inexpensive.
