Have I Gone Completely Mad?

Whats the deal???

I ran out of Van der Spice a couple weeks ago and so I threw a late 70's puck of Williams.....YES vintage WILLIAMS into my OS Mug and.......It ain't bad!

Not sayin' I will ever buy a fresh puck of Williams but the ancient variety is pretty good stuff and lathers great......and as a bonus the Williams Bug Spray scent is no longer there.

Confession made.

Though I've never tried Willams, vintage or current, isn't it the general consensus that vintage Williams is actually good?

I'm no Williams expert...has the formulation changed at all over the years?

My vintage Wrisley (Yardley derivative) is an amazing latherer!

I have a puck that smells like mosquito repellent, and I have entertained the idea of bathing with it this summer to see if it repels the buggers.:001_rolle

From what I've been told the older Williams is much better. Some people hate the newer Williams, some love it. I guess according to a lot of the fans you can actually make a good lather out of it, but it takes some work. I am in line for a vintage williams soap pass and have a friend who is going to slice me a sample of his vintage williams to try out. Once I get the soap I'll compare it with the new stuff.

As for vintage Williams in an OS mug, I don't think that sounds crazy, if anything it's kind of fitting.

I take that back, this is not madness

THIS IS B&B!!!

Sorry something in another thread reminded me of 300...and it's stuck in my head now..AHHH MY HEAD!

No madness at all...and I for one am a friend to the current Williams formulation. Course I'd love to get hold of a vintage puck to try it out! I have found the extra work I put in to get Williams to perform how I wanted it to, has actually improved my lathering technique overall. Sometimes, it's worth it to go back to that stubborn puck, and make it happen. Oh...and FWIW, I used Williams today, with Ivy Club OS....great combo!

Pre 1980 Williams is Great along with Colgate. I still use Williams from time to time but I boost it with a drop of CO Bigelow Shaving Cream.
