Haslinger and Edwin Jagger=Same?

Can anyone please confirm or deny if the current Edwin Jagger "Sea Buckthorn" is the same as Haslinger "Meersalgen" (rebranded)? The reason for me asking is that the EJ is more easily available for me. Oh I am talking about the puck (not cream- if there is such).
Thanks!

I think the E-J products are made by Muehle (German), they seem to share the same scents like Sea Buckhorn & package design.

I don´t think so. At least in the past both Mühle and Jagger had Haslinger as procurer for soaps under their own respectively brand. I might be wrong though.

EJ and Muhle have a collaborative, co-design relationship. My Haslinger soaps are quite different from my EJ soaps, but I don't have Sea Buckhorn so I can't comment on that particular soap. In general my Haslinger soaps have a different shape and consistency and lather much easier than my EJ soaps.

I'm not familiar with the historical relations between any of these companies, but what I do know is that the shaving soaps, shaving creams and aftershave balms from EJ and Mühle are the same product (does not apply to Mühle Organic series). EJ/Mühle shaving soaps are vegetable based, Haslinger soaps are tallow based from what I gather on these forums. Haslinger soaps are "Made in Austria", Mühle products are "Made in Germany", and EJ software is "Made in the EU", presumably because they don't want to admit that it's German.

So there is little to suggest that Haslinger are related to Mühle and EJ right now. Some discussions suggests that Haslinger soaps were vegetable based earlier, which could also mean they were the same as the other two at one point.

Excellent info eth! Thanks a lot!
So the Haslinger is not that easy to grab as I thought. Hmm. Any recommendations on affordable deals around? As usual, the shipping prices from Germany/Austria is a bit of a sad story even for us Europeans.

Henrik have you tried ordering Haslinger through the Shavemac site, they do carry it and shipping may be more reasonable.

Nope I have not. Although familiar with the famous brush site I have not thought of checking his other sections. Will do that right away! Thanks mftoms59!

NO - they are not the same at all.

There may be similarity of scent names but they do not smell the same at all. I've used Haslinger Aloe, Sandalwood and Seaweed and they smell nothing like the Muhle/Jagger soaps with the same scents.

The Haslinger soaps also beat the living tar* out of the Muhle/Jagger soaps in terms of performance.

*insert your favorite "beaten like a...." reference here.

I just had my first Haslinger Shafmilch shave -- fantastisch!! Very dense, rich, protective, and a kind of slow-mo slick that provides a very comfortable, very close shave. I'd say it might even outperform MWF. I got their no-named-scent puck, which has a scent so light I could barely detect it. Special thanks to Pasteur Pharmacy's Wet Shaving Maven, Steven Schimmel, for an excellent recommendation.
