What's new

Has anyone used both the original ATT S1 and the new Blackland ATT S1?

I've used my original stainless steel ATT S1 in rotation since it was manufactured in 2015. As I've said on this forum before, it's a delight. It's beautifully made and finished, and it's ultra smooth but surprisingly efficient. My only reservation is that, at 117g, it's heavier than I prefer.

Now there's a new ATT S1, designed since Blackland acquired ATT. Given Blackland's stellar reputation, I'm sure there are improvements, and the new ATT Web site describes several differences. But, if anyone has tried both old and new, a user comparison here would be helpful. The new titanium version (70g) is reaching out to tempt me.

You can read my review here. I had the original S1 but sold it a few years ago so my memory is a bit foggy. I believe the new version is just as smooth but more efficient. I now have both the SB and OC plates and they both provide excellent shaves.

If you like the original, you'll probably still like the updated S1. We only really changed two things: covered blade tabs and a small bump in efficiency. The rest of the shaving geometry is carried over from the original design.

Also hoping to hear more comparisons between the OG and updated S1!

Thanks. Nice writeup! Just FYI, it took a while for your review and some other posts on page 1 of the thread to show up on my monitor. Never had that happen before.
