Hart scales size question

Does anyone have a 6/8 and a 7/8 Hart razor and can give me the length of the razor (pivot hole to toe) of both razors or can compare both scales for me? In fact, I wanted Hart scales for a 7/8 razor by another manufacturer (a #14 Filly) and wanted to order a 7/8 set of scales. On the Hart website there are scales available for both sizes whereas at classic shaving there's only one size and they state that the replacement scales fit both sizes. I thus ordered a set and found them to be identical in length to my 6/8 Hart scales and too short for my purpose (I was able to lengthen the space in the scales in order to fit them to the Filly, but it's not the ideal solution). What now? Are there two sizes or are they all the same? Are 7/8 and 6/8 blades identical in length?

Best bet I think would be to call Hart Customer Service direct. They seem to be pretty good about getting back to customers quickly and if anyone knows...they would. Funny though, all indications are the 6/8 and 7/8 are the same length. You are correct that Hart has different part numbers for each 6/8 and 7/8 scales so logic would dictate there must be some difference. That holds until you discover they sell the same Pearlex and Faux Ivory scale for both 6/8 and 7/8 blades. Quite the mystery......

With the blade closed, measuring from the tip of the exposed nose back to the centre of the pivot 115mm on both a 6/8 and 7/8 square point. At nose, height of faux ivory scale for 7/8 is 20mm, width at very front of scale 10mm. At nose height of 6/8 cocobolo scale is 18mm, width at very front of scale 8mm. The 6/8 scale is smaller and it matters. I have a Makr cordovan case that only fits a 6/8 wearing a 6/8 scale. 7/8 is too large. My 6/8 cocobolo came from Classic when my original 6/8 resin scales cracked at the pivot. Good luck. When my scales failed Hart redirected me to deal with Classic. They worked very closely together.

Classic has only one scale option that they state works for both blades sizes. I think they sell the 7/8 scales that, logically, will fit 6/8 blades too.

It will fit with certainty it just won't be in proportion to the Hart 6/8 blade. The blades are the same length nose to pivot as I posted above. Must be cutting inventory and saving a few bucks along the way. Glade I have a proper 6/8 scale for my 6/8. I tried a spare resin 7/8 scale on the 6/8 blade some time ago. It is just not the same. Doesn't seem it would be an issue for what you are trying to do with the Filly.
