Recently I noticed something interesting regarding how my skin reacts to different shave soaps. The harder, waxy, white often described as 'triple-milled' pucks such as DR Harris or GFT both in various scents seem to give my skin a slight burning sensation. However, the somewhat softer pucks such as any variety of VDH, Tabac, Irisch Moos and even the melt and pour soaps such as Mama Bears do not seem to give me that burning sensation. All of this seems to stay consistent through various lathering techniques if that helps any and I generally stick to the same blade/razor setup.
Has anybody else had this experience?
Also, does anybody else know of a common ingredient that exists in these harder soaps, but not the softer ones that could be causing this? I do not believe it's a scent ingredient, but I could be wrong.
