"Look what I found"
Well 200 years give or take a few. A Stub Tail from T. Scargill who was a Sheffield maker from 1813-25. To celebrate, this old lady got a new pair of shoes. When I got it, she was scaled in a old wood bloom handle or dowel rod. There was no rust on the steel, just decades of crud. Did not want to virginize the steel and lose the patina, so 0000 steel wool and oil to clean up. Than some 1K paper and metal polish to give some luster. The wood was replaced with buffalo bone and a black horn wedge for contrast. After working the bone, it has a ivory look so went with brass pins and no washers to keep the look appropriate. This was a first restro in a few years, so overall happy with the finished results
