Hand/Nails Maintenance

Dear B&Bs, I need some guidance about Hand and Nails maintenance.

I'm currently dating an ex-ballerina dancer, and she cares a lot about body maintenance. She hasn't asked me yet to do something about my hands, but I know it concerns her.

It troubles me because since I'm a rock climber and crossfitter my hands are constantly under a lot of stress, and my nails are scratched most of the time.

I have no previous experience with hand beauty procedures, and missing chunks of skin are a constant. Is there any advice you guys can spare to make my hands a bit more appealing?

Muchos saludos!

Taking care of your nail beds and cuticles will help a lot. I suspect yours look rough from all the climbing chalk. Soak your hands in warm water dor 10 mjnutes, rhen use a cuticle tool to push rhem back. Use nice cuticle cream and snip any rough edges before they tear. Also, use an intensive hand lotion overnight to help soften your hands overall.

You know, it might make sense to go to a spa that does men's manicures and talk to them. With how you use your hands, they're never going to look perfect, but you should get big points for trying and making process. Get a mani before your next date. She'll notice.

I lift 4x/week & the DL's and PC's cause big callouses. The answer is a medium grit foam sanding block used when hands are dry. Smoothes them right down.

Go with her to get a manicure. It isn't that bad, she'll enjoy it, and if anyone laughs you can beat them. Their blood will be an additional moisturing agent.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Hirsute, now that you mention it, I suffer a lot from cuticle shredding. I guess I'll go and get a men's manicure.

To soften my calluses I use something called Piedra Pome, a rock that came out from a volcano eruption, it works pretty well, considering that some calluses can leave a mark in a girl's face after a gentle caress.

It would be a great idea to get a men's manicure and then once you know the procedure you can easily give yourself one at home. It's no trouble to keep up once you get the hang of it. The main thing you can do is soak your hands in warm, soapy water, use a hand scrub and use a good rich hand lotion. If your cuticles look shredded or banged up, you can buy a cuticle pusher and remover gel and push them back after they've been soaking in warm water. And you can use cuticle cutters to snip any hang nails. For scratched or split nails you can pick up a nail buffer and buff the top of your nails.

I used to work at the post office and handling paper all day sure does dry your hands out. I found A&D baby ointment worked wonders. Slather some A&D on at bedtime and cover with a pair of white socks and your hands will be fine in no time.
