Hand Moisturizer?

It's that time of year where our (mine especially) hands tend to dry out from the wind and cold.

I'm looking for something that is non-greasy, and unscented. Especially unscented.

I tend to suffer from cracking dry skin around the knuckles, so any suggestions so I can avoid this condition are greatly appreciated.

I believe we've had threads about this in the past few months. I get cracks around my fingertips in the winter that are devilishly painful. A dermatologist recommended "Ultra Mide", a urea-based hand lotion that is extremely effective (but tough to find). I checked out creams at a drug store that carries a lot of esoteric products and found several. It seems that the more urea, the higher the cost.

Just a FYI,

Before you apply the hand lotion wash your hands first and lightly dry your hands.

Apply the lotion on your damp hands.

The lotion will trap the water to the skin.

Just an added benefit.

Cornhuskers.

No fancy scent, not greasy, inexpensive.

I suffered from dry hands since I was a youngerster and worked outside in the cold for a bunch of year robbing my hands of their moisture. A couple products work well. Bag Balm. Its thick takes awhile to soak it but has some anti-bacterial properties which help to protect you from any of the cuts which might arise from cracked dry hands. Its cheap $10 for a tub that will last years. Its made in Vermont and used as a treatment for a cows over worked utter. The Neutrogena hand cream is good but its thick as well. Badger hand balm is good and has a sweet birch bark like smell kind of reminds me of bay rum, my favorite AS. And recently after reviewing this wonderful web site I bought corn huskers lotion which seems to work ok but not as good as a hand moisturizer as the previous three I listed.

Working Hands
You can get it at hardware stores. While it's kind of expensive it's the best I have used. I work on Boeing 737 the fuel oil and hydraulic fluid ravage my hands. This stuff works!

I've been using the C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Remedy #1012. It is the closest to non-greasy I've found, and it doesn't smell either.

If it gets really bad in the winter I get cotton gloves and put vaseline on my hands and wear the gloves to bed and this help me out during the winter since I work outdoors

That's the ticket for really dry hands or feet. Slather your hands before you go to bed and slip some socks over them.

I get really dry hands in the winter, sometimes my knuckles will crack open and bleed.

I've used Nivea Intensive Hand Care Cream with great success. Put a small amount on at night and in the morning and the dryness reduces by 95% within a few days, then stays that way for the winter. Really good, not expensive. '

Hopefully Nivea don't realie how good it is and put the price up!

That's really what you need to do if it's really bad.

Also, as I've mentioned before in some threads, my dry skin improved dramatically when I started taking a fish oil supplement.

Crabtree & Evelynn has some really good hand cream. They sent me a free sample with some shave items that lasted quite a while.
