What do I need to use to glue or re-glue wood to metal. Both surfaces are smooth, but will need prepping to get old glue off. Do I have to put a clamp on or can i just set it and leave to cure.

Gorilla glue. Read directions and clamp it.
I know you have a lot more experience than me, so I'm curious - why Gorilla and not epoxy?
