Guess That Movie: Alternate Movie Description Edition!

sounds like The Godfather, except the second son gets shot.

Winner!

Lee Dutton and Sonny Corleone are both oldest sons and both shot.

I was thinking Fredo and his diminished capacity.
Okay, young man comes back home after brother's death. Starts having a mental breakdown. His father tries to cure his mental troubles and ends up beating his own son to death. Local officials chalk it up to an animal attack.

Well, it's been nearly 24 hours so I'll post a hint. This is a classic movie many people watch around this time of year. Also, the young man's breakdown is in spite of his purity of heart.

I'll start with the old movie first.
In 2011 Saoirse Una Ronan played the protagonist
in Hanna.

It was about an assassin who was unaware of having
been the product of a secret government genetic engineering program.
The opening scene shows the protagonist doing wilderness survival
exercises in a snow covered forrest and then retiring
to a cabin which is shared with another assassin.
The secret program was terminated and the subjects were also
scheduled for termination.
The protagonist sets up a radio beacon for the government
to home in on and they attack the cabin and the protagonist
gets away. The protagonist then goes to the secret government facility
and kills a bunch of people there.
The government realizes that they are outclassed
so they hire a foreign assassin to finish the job.
He fails and our protagonist gets away.

The film I'm thinking of is from 2012 and isn't Hanna,
but otherwise fits the above description of Hanna.

First I thought RED SPARROW but it is 2018. Then SALT but it is 2010.
I'll call it a shot with: The Bourne Legacy

Englishman leaves when his house is torn down, with the help of his illegal immigrant.
Much to his surprise journey turns out way more complicated and longer than expected, especially when he meets differect cultures.

Emerging from the depths, movie namesake revisits his old stomping grounds while the locals try to cool him off. The tail end of the movie is very intriguing.
