Guerlain Vetiver

I love this stuff, its a nice soapy vetiver to me. The longevity is very good, I put it on at 530am and could still smell it when going to bed at 1130pm and that is with two sprays. If you have not tried it you need to if you are a vetiver fan:thumbup1:

It's a reference vetiver. Everybody must try it. I hated it at first; I found it fusty and old-mannish. I now look forward to wearing it. It's my favourite vetiver and SWMBO loves it...

So my advice is: try it. Give it some time, even if you don't like it at first.

Just got a bottle in the mail today..
One thing I read as a complaint is its just soap smell.
I have not tried it yet but I can see that being an issue of just a monochromatic scent...

I think this could be a great summer or office scent even if it's just soap :)

I find the C&S Vetiver to be quite loud, and not particularly vetiver-y. I can't take it...

Guerlain, on the other hand is all about vetiver once the citrusy top notes subside. GV is much tamer and smoother than C&S. Rarebear is right; the Guerlain does have a soapy quality to it, but the vetiver is front and centre. It is, IMHO a great summer frag, but I wear it all year round.

YMMV, of course.

@ Deruitem: I only own a couple of other Guerlains (LIDG, LIDGE and Heritage), and I find all of them to have great longevity.

I don't find the longevity on me to be very long. GV is one of my favorite colognes by far but I have to use much more than any other. When I first got it I was in Colorado where it is very dry and it faded so fast on me but after moving to eastern North Carolina where it's humid it seems to last longer but I still need to use 3-4 sprays where as with most I only use 1 spray 2 at most as I seem to have a high body temp or something and project fragrances heavy.

Most frags don't last on me but this one does. A classic Vetiver. I also have Creed Original Vetiver but I like the Guerlain better, it's not even close for me.

Mick, I used to think it doesn't last long, but SWMBO could smell it on me 12 hours after application, while I couldn't smell a thing. It does last long, but without great sillage.

One of my favorites. The cologne is so good that I got the aftershave lotion and gel as well. They are actually very good performers..... very soothing.
