Guerlain Vetiver decant?

Is there a generous member out there who's willing to set me up with a small decant of Guerlain Vetiver for the price of CONUS and a small gratuity? If not, where can I get a sample?

I have some I could try for, but you can't open the tops on those bottles.
I could hit the sprayer 50 million times to get it into a small vaporizer (which is what I did for a travel bottle).
I have an extra 1oz sprayer (smallest I could find).
I'll spray a bunch into the bottle for you and take a pic so you get an idea of how much it is (perhaps 1/8oz), should be enough to get an idea of whether it works for you or not.

Instead of sending payment for break even (~$4), perhaps we could do a trade when you finish the decant?
Have any T&H Trafalgar, or DRH Marlborough?

PM with duplicate info sent.

This is fairly easy to find. I know that locally both Perfumania and Dillards have it available to sample.

If we do not, we should have something in the Wiki on decanting. One usually has to spray directly into the decant vial/bottle (or into a funnel into the bottle) because the atomizer cannot be removed without destroying it. (Never hurts to give one a few twists and tugs to see if it will come off easily. To my surprise PdN atomizwers come out easily.) However the spraying process may be a lot easier and a lot faster than many folks think. Helps to take one's time, especially as you are getting the hang of it. Sometimes it helps to spray slowly!

We/B&B should also probably have a list of sources and suggestions for decant vials/atomizers and other tools of the trade. Recently, for the first time to my knowledge, The Container Stores, at least those near me, have had very good decant supplies, such as 8.5 ml plastic atomizers (around $2 for two), funnels (79 cents, a very good price in my experience), and so called dram vials in non atomizer clear glass in various sizes at nice prices. Also really nice travel Nalgene screw top bottles in various sizes that are excellent for shipping liquids. Also containers, such as plastic daily pill boxes that are very good for decants of SCs. One has to look in a couple of different places in the store.

I realize if there is no Container Store nearby this does not help much! Not all is listed in their on-line catalog.

There are numerous EBay vendors who are not bad in any respect. Proudstyle.com is great and sells small quantities if you can wait for shipping from Hong Kong. accessoriesforfragrances is great and has a fantastic selection of high quality goods, but they are a bit more expensive than some sources. TajPerfume in Baltimore is excellent for vials, but not atomizers, and its prices are lower if one actually goes to the brick and motar store rather than ordering on line, although they are well-priced on line, too.

Cheap plastic pipettes and/or syringes are nice to have, and most of the places named above do not have them. Electricians tape and plumbers teflon thread tape are nice to have and use, and plastic baggies of various sizes. Bubble envelope mailers. Ebay has decent prices on the latter. The plastic ones are nice, truly light, and might help provide some protection from leakage.

I was just at perfumania to try AdG and Bvlgari pour Homme. They were out of all Guerlain for men. Moreover, the one here doesn't let you spray the stuff directly ON your body. They spray it on a paper slip and hand it to you. So you get no idea of the way it works with your body chemistry, or whether or not you'll really like it on yourself.

How odd. I always ask them to spray me if I like what I smell on the paper. I just tell them I want to test the dry down. They have never refused.

I asked them if I could get some AdG on my wrist and they told me it was against company policy.

Can I ask what company? Does not seem like they should be selling much juice. If I were trying to scent a piece of paper, that approach might be fine. But I am trying to scent me!

Do they have you try on shoes by putting them on a shoe tree. Fit you a suit on a mannequin?!

Perfumania. I hear that other perfumania stores DO spray you, but this one, or at least this employee, wouldn't.

This one has all of the perfume behind the counter, locked in glass cabinets. This mall isn't exactly in a rough neighborhood, either. It's surrounded by black glass shrouded office blocks and high-end restaurants.

Maybe folks were going in to get scented up before going out with no intention of ever buying or something!

So sad to see this store has gone the route of 'no free samples.'
Face it, if someone doesn't want to buy and would rather get a free shot of spray regularly there are a dozen mall stores to accomodate this.

If not for free samples I never would have gotten either the Crabtree & Evelyn products (which I now own 4), nor the Body Shop products (which I now own 2).
On top of that I always mention this to others just starting out to try, and hand out samples from my own stash.

Looks like I'm not buying from Perfumania in the future - you just lost a customer and a sale.
