What's new

Greetings from new member

Hello everyone.

I found this forum really interesting, which prompted me to join.

My interest comes from having a particularly tough beard, and I like to be clean shaven at all times. Hard work for life!

My favourite razor, Gillette Sensor 3, has become really hard to source unless I get the disposable razors, and I'm lucky enough to still have the Excel metal handle that came in the post when I turned 18 in the UK (a really neat marketing trick by Gillette!). And the 3 blade Sensor is even better than 2 blade Excel.

I cannot get on with any razor that followed the Sensor 3. I bought Vector 3 blades which were great, but supplies of these dried up too.

Does anyone know where I can buy Sensor 3 / Vector 3 / same but named otherwise, blades, please?

Welcome to B&B @laimtoh5

They are widely available online. At the moment Amazon UK have them on sale for £13.95 for a pack of 10.

I don't think Gillette sending free handles in the UK when I turned 18, but they seem to have been doing so in the 90's. I would have got mine in late 1979 but I never recall such a freebee.

I would suggest that you explore a less expensive route, and perhaps infinitely more satisfying, in what is essentially a mundane task. I would suggest DE (double edged) razor blade shaving. No more than £60 would set you up with an excellent set of gear including a good razor and soap, a nice synthetic brush and an aftershave balm and or splash of your choice.

Top tier DE razor blades can be had for as little as £12 a 100 from sellers, which is easily a 1 year+ supply of blades.

Please reply on this thread if you would like more information.

Hat tip to @Marco for pinging me.

I got a free Sensor in a "Good Stuff Box" when I arrived for my freshman year of college. It was a definite improvement over previous cartridges. Mach 3 works well for me, but I would have no complaints if Gillette had stopped revising after the Sensor 3. I've tried a bunch of cartridge razors since, and just don't get as good a shave.

Welcome! There is a wealth of knowledge here should you ever contemplate alternate methods to shave a tough beard :).

Thanks for such a warm welcome, from so many!

I have a lot of useful suggestions now.

My most immediate need is for disposable Sensor cartridges, and I just ordered some Sensor 2 blades I found on Amazon as I couldn't find Sensor 3 cartridges (there are plenty of plastic handle and blade Sensor 3s) (thanks @Alum Ladd, and for encouraging me to consider safety razors - it'll be a first when I do!).
