Greatings From Southern California . . .

Greetings . . .

Prior to my finding out about the joys of wet shaving, I was shaving in the shower using disposable Gillettes from Costco's giant blister pack and KMF soap, suffering with the cuts, nicks and ingrown hairs especially in the Summer months.

Late last year, I was discussing shaving with a friend of mine about shaving and he suggested I try a D/E razor (he "lent" me a plastic handled Super Speed and some Derby Extra blades).

I gave it a go and haven't looked back. Since then I've picked up a few badger hair brushes, and a couple of gently used Gillette razors (an adjustable Super Speed, a Fat Boy) and a Merkur 34C. My daughter gave me a Dovo 6/8 for Fathers Day (but haven't gone there yet) because in her words "If your going Old School, you might as well go all the way."

I'm working my networks and and one of my daughter's school friends from India (she immediately recognized what I was looking for) is going to try and pick me up some Gillette Guard razors and Godrej soap pucks, and a friend of my wife's from Turkey is going to look for razor blades and maybe a boar brush when she goes home at the end of the year.

My other daughter is in Italy right now and I've asked her to look around for barber supplies (blades and soaps mostly) and so far she's been unsuccessful in the larger Chain department stores. Anyone have some recommendations besides barber shops where unescorted females generally aren't welcome . . .

Anyway, I'm looking forward to making myself smarter(er) on wet shaving by participating . . . Thanks for listening.
