Evening lads. I wanted to share my story of good fortune the weekend last. My eldest daughter works at the local Jos. A Bank store. This is a factory store. It does not sell seconds. Rather the factory stores sell some of their own line and many products from their mainline retail stores that are left over inventory. Having her on the inside makes getting good deals before they are gone a much better prospect.
The latest score was a real bonus. They had a natural linen sport coat in my size on closeout for $78. It was originally $149.99 in the retail store. The tag at that price was still on it. Then I was directed to a display with shirts. A very nice white long sleeved shirt with a fine lined sienna(burnt red?) cross/plaid pattern of about 3/4 inch squares was handed me with a stern invitation to try it on. It fit well and I added it to the sale. Here is where I was blown over. Not only was the coat a red tagged closeout item, so was the shirt which just happened to be from their Signature line. Original price, $135. Closeout price? $29 and change! You want more? On the same Saturday was a one day only 25% sale on all closeout items at the factory stores. I walked out with the jacket and shirt taxes all in for $88 and change! I am right happy man. They also have some nice ties and bow ties there and one in particular was smashing with the jacket and shirt combination. It was the princely sum of $24.95 and not part of the closeout items. So it remains til next Friday(payday as if you didn't know) and then it may come home as well. This is going to make great spring combination. Now to match some trousers to it. What do you think, a pale sage green? A very light cocoa? The old standby navy would work well but I want something a bit different. And please, no suggestions of pink/purple/Fuschia/orange or similar. Rodney Dangerfield I ain't. If I cannot find linen in those colours what material would you go with? Thank you for any help.
Cheers, Todd
PS: This coat and shirt combination is versatile enough to warrant an ascot this spring. I'm pretty sure I can pull it off.
