Today I visited 'The Old Town Shaving Company' at the Shops at Stats in Pasadena, California, and I was so impressed with the shop, I want to spread the word about it. This shop is being discussed in another thread regarding Martin de Candre, which they sell, but the store has much much more to offer, beautifully displayed, fairly priced, in a terrific setting.
The owner of the store is a wet shaving enthusiast and, I believe, a member of the B&B community; he's knowledgeable and resourceful, and his store is stocked with everything from RazoRock to Simpson to Rooney to MdC to Queen Charlotte's to TOBS, to Palmolive tallow stick to Merkur and Dovo... I could go on and on. Basically, most of the products that are discussed and lauded here on B&B are available on the shelf at the store. The owner's a very nice guy, and it was great to watch him explain the benefits of wet shaving to curious customers who walked in off the street.
The store has just opened, and I don't think they have an online presence yet. They do have a facebook page with pictures:
https://www.facebook.com/OldTownShaving
Anyway, I think it's a great place. I was like a kid in a candy store there. It makes such a difference to be able to see, hold, smell, sample and compare the products before buying.
Just my 2 cents as a customer, but if you are in the southern california area, it's absolutely worth a visit. 120 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena CA 91105 phone: (626) 795-9308
