I got a box in the mail of some old AS I got off eebay. One of them - the one I wanted most - was a '60s vintage Avon Bay Rum. But of course, the box was soaked in BR scent. Seller packed the undersized box too tightly and left the under-bubble wrapped BR - the most fragile bottle of them all - right at the side. Shattered. Dangit.
Anyway, Avon's old BR (from the residual smell left on my hand) smells similar to clove but is definitely not cut with clove, as modern ones tend to be. It's subtler and better. It's also superior to Avon's 1980s era BR which, while also not clove-y, has an "updated scent" with vanilla. . This old BR, though, is (was) one I would have enjoyed wearing. What really sucks is that I got a darn good price on it and the stuff doesn't come up often.
