Great antique store find

So I went to my local antique store today with my older sister. I told her i was looking for traditional shaving stuff, DE's, Straights, and the sort. I was looking at a shaving bowl for lathering, and an elderly man working there told me about an old shaving soap they had. So he escorted me and my sister to the other side of the antique mall, and opened up a padlocked case.

Inside of it was an old yardley shaving soap box. And better yet, inside of the yardley box was an unused NOS of Yardley shaving soap, still in its original bowl.

Guess how much I payed for it :001_cool:

ok i will.
$6.53

how awesome is that.
Iv'e seen that these things have been sold here for 60 dollars or more.

Great find!! My in-laws bought me a bowl of MacGregor's and a shaving brush to restore for $2. Haven't tried the MacGregor's yet, going to tonight actually. Always fun to get great deals.

Nice find. Is the bowl wood? If it is, might I recommend you clean it up and apply some mineral oil? I think it would shine up very nicely.

the scent seems to be in tact. it has a coconut aroma to it. and yes the bowl is wood. im gonna have to get some mineral oil and shine it up a bit like you said

If you can pop the puck out, do a real good cleaning, I think just water will do well. Let it dry, then do a couple of applications of oil until it won't take any more. Wipe off excess so it's not oily. It's the same thing I do to all my wood handled knives and butcher block.

You lucky ****.

Today I spotted an Old Spice bowl w/ so-so Gillette New and bad brush in an antique shop.
€55.
Didn't even ask. I walked. :glare:
