Greaseless Compunds

Is there any way to bring them back to life once they have hardened? I wrapped them in saran wrap and kept them in the fridge but they still got hard.

Will try that if the moistened towels do not help. I am guessing double boiler?

Yeah, that is what I have done to treat new wheels. I "melt" the compound in a double boiler type set-up, then apply it with a butter knife to the wheel.

Why not just apply the compound directly to the buffing wheel? I thought it came in a plastic tube, just peal back and go.

I was able to load the wheel with the compound after 2 days of moistening with paper towels, I will keep them stored that way.

They key is keeping it moist, but not wet...

I store mine in a zip lock bag with a damp paper towel over the cut open end of the tube of compound. I also refrigerate it... using this method I can usually use it up before it goes bad.
