What's new

Got some vintage brushes and they smell like....

...poo! No seriously, POO!!!

Bought a lot of vintage brushes, really only wanted 5 out of the lot as the rest didn't look so good in the pictures. I was tempted to tell the seller to keep the rest of them but figured maybe they will look better in person and be restoreable. Luckily the nice brushes were in a separate bubble mailer, because when I opened the crappy (literally) brush mailer... oh man! :tongue_sm

Seriously don't know why she even bothered with those and didn't just bin them! I wouldn't want to touch them! They are in the bin now, that's for sure!

post pics - c'mon you can clean them suckers up! Might smell like crap but when you take the knot out and clean it it'll be good as new. Post a pic, I'm sure somebody will take your stinker off your hands.

Ohhh noooo... trust me these were not worth it at all even as freebies and even if they didn't STINK! :tongue_sm They are in a garbage truck now anyway :thumbup1:

Are these the ones you wanted to swap me for the Green Ever Ready ???

Well dang, why didn't I think of that! Special vintage brushes with a special vintage "smell"! But nope, these definitely weren't the ones :001_smile

Bought some horse hair brushes recently. New, though. Now, that is some SMELL!!!

(As an aside, the smell improved and I am in fact using them instead of my badger hair brush.)

you either got them from a psycho that thinks it's funny....or...maybe the guys dog dumped on them...give them a good shampoo and rinse with anti bacterial soap and warm water, and then soak the brush in marvicide or barbicide ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS...... this should make your brush 100% safe

You should have just cut the bristles out and kept the handles. They aren't making vintage stuff anymore, tossing it in the trash is a shame.

Believe me I am all about saving vintage items and I agree it is a shame to trash them! But these really had no value (monetary or otherwise), they were waayy to gone to do anything with (I'm not talking about bristles but the handle itself). Keeping something just because it is vintage can be a shame also... leaves you without room for good stuff! :001_smile
