Got a reply about the Merkur HD head assembly problems.

I sent Merkur/Dovo those photos I took about the molding/casting/finishing problems with the top/bottom assembly on the razor head, this is the reply I received today:



"Thank you very much for your email and the photos.

It would seem that when the outside of the razor was polished before chrome
plating, they missed a spot on the side of the head, and one on the handle.
These spots can be missed, since on the foundry material, those spots do not
show very well, but the chrome plating will enhance them.
The inside of the head, where the blade is resting on, is not polished, so
it will always look scratched. This work step on the inside is left out of
the production process to keep the cost at a reasonable level, especially
since it does not diminish the function, nor the appearance of the razor.

I would like to thank you, though, for pointing this out to us, and I will
pass it on to our production people to keep an eye on the surface of the
razors."

Well, I have to give credit to Merkur. They listen and reply accordingly.
Now if we could only have them make a custom razor
