Hey everyone... My loving wife got me a merkur futur for Christmas. I've been shaving with a merkur 33c for the past couple of years. Any tips for me? I shaved today for the first time with it and it's definitely a bit more aggressive which I'm hoping to get used to!

I got myself two, one in chrome and other in gold.
Indeed more aggressive than Merkur 33c but I am sure you can manage this.
Set it to number one, put a nice cushion of lather and use smoothest blade you have (wich one you prefer, Gillette black indian or russian Permasharp for my taste).
If you have problem shaving under the nose with this razor (many people have, due to its head size), use the head of the razor to push up your nosetip (upward movement not touch the skin with blade), then touch skin with blade and shave with downward movement.

i love my futur, mine shaves best for me at 1.5 to 2. it took a couple of shaves to get used to theheft of the razor but now i love it congrats
Don't be afraid to adjust the dial! I cranked mine to 6 on a whim one day after almost a week of not shaving and it was superb.
Congratulations and it is a fine razor. Start with the lower numbers until you get used to it, then slowly progress to the higher one to see what you think. Good luck.
As you've heard many times before let the razor do the work for you. Especially this one as it's weight is an advantage. Just find the correct angle and let it float ovdr your lather. I have one and I like it.

Thanks everyone fire the tips... Sounds like im doing the right thing starting with a lower number... I just need to figure out the angle.... It's slightly different than my last one!
I have the matt futur and leave it on 3.
I turn the razor sideways for under the nose, handle pointing towards my ear.

I love the way it looks.... I'm hoping i can get shaves like i do with the 33c.... never had an issue with it... I'm sure I'll get it though!
I used a Futur today with a 7Oclock Black blade.
I love the Future with a Feather. It's a killer combo.
I use mine on 2. I find it a very aggressive razor.
Let the weight do the work.
Just hold it up to your face and guide it around.
Find the right blade and you're in for some excellent shaves.

I love my Futur. I'll pretty much reiterate most of what has been said so far - heft takes some getting used to (but now anything else seems puny), under the nose is a bit tough, & it is aggressive.
Only thing I'd do different from my initial usage is start at 3 (right in the middle) & work my way from there. You have equal ranges up & down to go to pending on your taste.
