goodyear welt dress shoes

May want to ask in the Haberdashery forum. Yes, there's more than just shaving here!

BB: your one stop shop for blokey advice.

Alden and Allen Edmonds are the two main US manufacturers remaining who still use Goodyear welting.
Well built shoes that last a lifetime if properly cared for ... sounds like something else often talked about in these forums! :sneaky2:

okay which shoes are still made with the goodyear welt american or not. Thanks for the response but I need more places.

The main two American ones have been given to you already and if you know your size for English shoes then the sky is the limit depending on your budget. I have owned and worn Loakes (from the 1880 collection and the 641 from their Shoemaker collection), Herring's own brand (www.herringshoes.co.uk, if memory serves), Church's City Line, Grenson, Cheaney, Crockett & Jones, and Barker. Others would also swear by Alfred Sargent, Lobbs, Edward Green, and Tricker's. All of these companies still use the Goodyear welted method for the majority of their better quality shoes (though many do cater to those who prefer Blake stitching, also fairly decent when done well, and cemented/glued construction depending on the market).

There are lots indeed. Are you looking for workboot sort of stuff like White's, or dress/casual shoes like the English ones mentioned? ... or ???

Whites are great, I currently use Nicks for heavy gear but I am looking for a pair of dress shoes. I know whites will make some but they don't have any design for me to look at. So I wanted to look around.

Micheal, I will look at those that you mentioned in great detail.

Thanks for the replies
