Parker 51 is a little light in hand, F nib (Steel), a bit scratchy....Should've waited and saved up for the gold nib :)???

I don't know, gold nibs can be scratchy too. After all, gold nibs and steel nibs use the same tipping material and that's what actually contacts the paper. Draw a few figure 8's on a newspaper and see if that helps. If that doesn't do the trick, order a set of emery paper from Goulet or Anderson or your favorite online pen site and then watch a video or three on youtube on smoothing nibs.
