What's new

Goodbye my beloved 180 hello Cobra.

I came home today to find a package on doorstep finally got my hands on the Cobra Classic fastest shipping ever approx 40 hours from order to doorstep. Thinking here we go another wasted wad of cash I prepped and went in for the first shave. 1 pass wtg, 2nd pass atg, 3rd pass was a no go I did not need a 3rd to my surprise. I cleaned up and had the Wife and Granddaughter give me a shave check both gave me a thumbs up and a perfect shave smile. My shave time was cut in half due to the huge amount of face this monster can mow with each pass, one small which nick bled like I had my throat cut these Feathers must be extremely sharp no irritation such a good shave my fingers stuck to my wet skin. The real indicator that this was a very close shave was that my knees buckled when I hit my face with the Bay rum ouch very painful. The 180 is now just a memory for me it's the Cobra and Cobra only from now on. I am thoroughly satisfied and impressed with this razor. For once the hype wasn't just hype but a reality.

Wow, I've never seen one before until now. Could you perhaps post more pictures of the head? I guess I could google it, I'm curious to see how this puppy functions.

I was afraid to recommend anything to you after all of the ones I did recommend did not work for you.

My top razor is the Cobra followed very closely by the Vision (which did not work out for you).

I have to force myself to NOT use the Cobra otherwise I would not use anything else and I would be little fun on the forum if I were a one razor guy :001_smile

If you find you are getting too many nicks you can use the "guard" blades.

You can find Feather and Kai blades with a guard on them at most vendors who stock the disposable straight blades

Thanks Turtle I am going to cruise over to WCS tomorrow and grab a few packs of those guard blades. You were spot on regarding the fine shave the Cobra provides. This razor just loves my face, fingers crossed that my future shaves go as well as tonight's.

I had a few good shaves with the cobra, but found myself getting more consistent shaves with my DE. I was happy to sell mine to someone who really wanted it :) these are great razors, they shave super close and not to mention they are super cool looking.

I cannot say it is worth every penny just yet. If I have the same results for a few more days then it will be a yes. This is an expensive razor $380 for 2 shipped compared to $33 for a merkur that gets close to the same great shave but with the merkur there is much more effort required. I have a disease which tricks my brain into thinking I must buy any razor that gets a good review. In all seriousness the frequenct at which I am buying razors is pretty ridiculous.

Keep at it. You only have a couple hundred more to go before you try them all :whistling:

NSmalls, the short answer is yes, it is worth the money. I make myself use my other razors, but it is the one that gives me the closest, smoothest shave. The only cons are that it's not cheap and you can only use a couple brands of blades with it. I have also heard that there have been quality control issues but mine is perfect.

If you search, there is a pass around going on. Ouch is in charge of it. He's a great guy. I tried it, sent it on, and then ordered one the next day.

I have shaved exclusively with the Cobra for the last several months and will continue to do so. I tried Stainless DE's (Weber, Atlas), R41, Slants, Gillette Slim, Fatip Grande and then tried Straights. Cobra with Feather Professional blade gives me a very close, irritation free shave. My only regret is that I did not just stick with it, earlier in journey!

Congratulations on the new razor! It is a very, very effective razor. Enjoy.
