Good, Easy-To-Find Blades When On The Road

I travel a lot, and since I recently started wet-shaving, I don't know which "good" blades are readily available in drugstores across the country (think Walgreens). I never check a bag, so I need to buy blades on the road. I appreciate the help.

Most of the ones you will find will be German Wilkinson (black wrapper) or blister carded ASR (Personna Barber), or Dorco (S. Korea)

Any of those will shave you though I would lean to the ASR first followed by the German Wilkies, IF (big if) you get a choice.

As usual, Mick hits another one out of the park. Going... going...it's outta here!:biggrin1:

Another option: If you know where you'll be staying ahead of time, mail yourself a blade or two c/o your destination hotel taped to a piece of paper inside a First Class envelope. They will hold the letter until your arrival, and then--Presto!--shaving bliss!

I mailed a blade to myself on a trip last year. Worked out well. That way I didn't have to buy a bunch of blades just to use one.

Mailing to your destination works if you have the time and inclination. Otherwise, you can take your chances hunting around the local area in search of a local source.

I learned a lesson recently. I carried-on and didn't mail ahead so I just brought a Bic Sensitive, a brush, and La Toja stick. I got by but I sure missed my DE shaves! I will always mail a blade ahead if I can from here on. I could have went shopping around but didn't really want to spend time in a strange city looking for blades. Plus, I'm not a big fan of Wilks and the store-branded Dorcos or Personnas I find at discount stores.

Check local supermarkets and drug stores. Many will carry blades that have been rebranded for the store. Then check the back of the package to see where they are made. If USA, then they are Personnas, and worth picking up. If Korea, then they are Dorcos, and I'd pass, unless there is no other option. I concure with Wilkies being a good runner up to Personnas. You can always find blades at Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens. No matter where you travel, you should be able to find one of those nearby. If not, the local grocery store should have some.

I don't know if this counts as easy to find or good, but if you see a Sally Beauty Supply, they carry Derby and Personna blades.
