Gold or nickel?

I have a New Deluxe I'm looking to get replated, was originally gold, should I go for gold or nickel? I heard nickel is slicker on the skin during shaving.

I think anyone who says that they can detect the difference between Gold, Silver or Nickel plate by how it feels on their face is only fooling themselves.
The skin of the face isn't THAT sensitive.
Rub your fingers over your face after you shave, your fingers can feel the smoothness of your face a LOT better than your face can feel the roughness of your finger pads.
Do it in whatever you think will look best in your opinion.
It's replating, not original so you can have it any way you like it.
Someone here once mentioned the idea of Powder Coating.
I've gotta look into that.

Well, I would go with only with the gold or nickel as those are the correct original metals used. I'm sensing you knew that.:wink2:

Personally, I'd go with the nickel as the gold requires the lacquering process which suggests to me that it does not hold up as well.

To properly plate your head it's first needs to have a nickel base coat to seal the copper based alloy (brass) failure to do this will give results like Gillette experienced with the NEW where hardly an example can be found with intact plating.
