What's new

Going to try this out

Ok - I've been a lazy shaver.

That newer Gillette 4 blade thing. Gillette after-shave and gels... that's about it.

I shave every few days because it doesn't grow in a ton, and shaving feels like quite a hassle. However, I want to try this new method. I hate feeling dry and burned after a shave. And I hate the bumps I get on my neck.

So - I'm going to try to buy a few things and see how it works. From an article I got on MSN I got some ideas - and was led to a forum - which led me here.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Razor: http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/284057.htm
Blades: ? Not sure what to go for. I hear people saying something about feather something blades.
Brush: http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/800550/422298.htm
Cream: ? not sure. The article mentions something called Proraso
After Shave: ? not sure.

I'm curious if I'm missing anything - and if anyone can suggest something for me! thanks

Excellent taste, my friend!

The HD is a great razor.
Feathers are really sharp blades, but many guys love 'em--you can also ask letterk on this board for a sampler pack of different types of blades--PM him.
Proraso cream in the tube is a no brainer--great stuff, especially in the summer.
Cool brush--I'm envious!

Let us know how your first shave with this rig is!

Feathers are quite sharp. Some people love them, some find them too aggressive. The sampler pack from LetterK is really the way to go, so that you can try different blades to find the right one for you. (The Feather is, as it happens, the right blade for me, but YMMV.)

Very solid choices. Do good prep, take your time, and start with light pressure and short strokes. Enjoy....
