Going Rate for Lady Gillette Razors?

Hello all,

I am trying to get my wife into DE shaving and I would like to get her a real nice Lady Gillette. I have seen that there are pink, blue and champagne colours available.

What are the going rates for really clean ones in great shape?

Thanks

Dave

check an out of town antique store...you might get lucky. I got my wife a blue lady gillette for $4 but have seen them on ebay for well over $20

This one is overpriced for its condition. $20.00 at most which should also cover shipping. Any razor you see for sale by Maher will be very fairly priced along with a few other sellers. Look closely at the pictures and descriptions.

It seems like it really can vary significantly. Depending on condition and the presence/absence of a case, it seems like they go anywhere from 10-40ish. For the price to get on the high end though, it should be in excellent-mint condition with a case. Even still, you can find ones in really good shape for the 15-25 range. I think it also depends a bit on color. Blue ones are more common than the pink or champagne. Thus, the latter two tend to cost a bit more.

I paid $20 for a mint pink one and used it for the first time in my rotation 2 weeks ago and only just put it away to try someting else as the shaves were very very good.

The Lady Gillette doesn't always come with a case even when new:

How about this one? Went for $124.40 last night.

I admit this is a beautiful Pink Lady and should go for more then the common blue one. However what drove the price up was the bidding games a few youngsters were playing to see who could be the highest bid from day one. (I consider anyone under 30 a youngster or anyone with less then 10 feedbacks). I find that in the last month or two this seller has gone to auctions more then bin because of criticism they get that their bins are to high. Now it seems that their beautiful razors with the super photos are drawing quite a bit of action, from the youngsters. Last week a Slim sold for $170. Why? Because of the same bidding games.

My point is that razor prices are going up and part of it is because of the bidding games. Buy from B/S/T or learn how to bid, youngsters. So what's the going rate for a Lady Gillette? I don't know anymore.

Very expensive, but absolutely gorgeous.

+1
It was a gorgeous razor. I did bid on it but got out when it went crazy.
(for the Oldguy: I have over 52 rating on the bay even though I have been a member there for several years and am well over 30 yrs old)

I have bought from this vendor in the past and her razors are impeccable.
They are clean and the pictures are point on, shipped in bubble wrap and razors are hermetically sealed.

With that, her prices can be high, for some people. Especially when you compare them to B&B B/S/T prices.
From the members that I have bought from on B&B site, including Dar, the quality has been excellent and the prices fair.
But if you want to get your Mrs. a perfect gift and can not fight those who seem to be on the B&B B/S/T 24/7 and you don't get responses on the WTB then you pay the going rate. Supply and demand. Simple as that.

As DE razors become popular, which is what we all want, the supply of vintage razors will go down (exception to current makers such as Merkur, E.J., and Parker, Weishi etc)
Specifically Gillette razors supply drops and thus a rise in prices paid.
If anybody doesn't like what is going on, on eBay, don't shop there.

To get back on point of this thread I purchased a few Lady Gillette razors and $20 to $25 is about right with shipping for most cases. On the bay, you never know. Also, check with estate sales and antique stores in your area. You may find a diamond in the rough or maybe a lady Gillette for $5.

PS:This is how popular DE shaving is getting, even Duluth Trading a clothing company is selling E.J razors and such:
