Going back to Feathers

Having used Feathers and loved them, I kept a few back from the pack I had and experimented with a couple of others.

Neither the Astra SP nor the Personna Reds gave me as comfortable a shave. Equally close, a few weepers but no real irritation but I could tell, even with my limited experience that they're not as sharp and there was some tugging on the ATG pass.

So, back to the Feathers.

I'd like to try Gillette Blacks and the Polsilver SI but I can't find a UK supplier and I'm reluctant to trust eBay. Any suggestions?

Hi. PM me your address and I'll send you some PolsilverSI's to try. They're my fave blades. Don't have any Gillettes I'm afraid.

]I have 140 Feather blades in the stash now, but I just got a sampler pack from West Coast Shaving, and I am going to try some different blades. I am skeptical that I will find anything I like better than the Feather blade, but it will be fun to try new ones. [/B][/COLOR]

I shaved with Feathers and liked them so much I bought 100. Then I tried Personna Lab Blues and liked them a lot. So I switched. I decided to try a Feather again last week and something had changed. The Feathers were not only good, they were great. But...what changed? My technique, that's what. I had learned so much, when I applied this new technique to a superior blade I was in wet shave heaven. My only complaint, as said by so many others, they don't last long. Three shaves, tops. But the shave is so good, it's worth it, to me.

You're a legend, thank you! Where do you get your blades from?

If you have 5 razors and tried various blades you will find more than 1 blades works well in different razors. ..

I completely agree. I only have one razor though, and I intend to stay that way until I've experimented with everything other variable.

If you have the touch and the skin and beard that will cooperate, I think there are Feathers and then there is everying else. My best shaves were definitely with Feathers but I've also had a lot of injuries with Feathers. If my skin condition is not really smooth or I have any nicks or cuts still healing, the Feather will exaserbate the problem and re-traumatize anything trying to heal.

During the summer when my face is getting a lot of sun, especially while on vaca at the beach, the Feather is my choice. Other times if I need something milder I'll usually go with the Super Iridium (NOS) or Perma-sharp Super.

My compromise blade is the Gillette Super Blue, which I use more than anything now. One of the sharpest - (no not as sharp as Feather) - I've used and pretty forgiving. I can only get 2 shaves out of it though. I feel it degrade after the 1st shave.

I could never get feathers to work for me, I think you meant Silver Blue? right?

Back to a Feather this morning and what an immediate, noticeable difference! So much more comfortable, I don't care if they're a bit more expensive than other blades, it's still only pennies each week and my skin is thanking me already.
