Gin Sour

Made one last night. Awesome. I spent the day picking lemons in the backyard. Ended up with six large grocery bags full! Had seen mention in Garden & Gun magazine about an old cocktail. Found recipe and voila. Really good. Hendricks, lemon juice, Demerara syrup, bitters, lemon twist. No fake stuff. Just really good. Nice to see some of the old classics resurface. I've been missing out!

I like the old drinks a lot. One of my favorites is a White Lady:
Two parts gin
One part Cointreau
One part lemon juice

I suppose some guys are put off by the name but this is really just a Sidecar made with gin in lieu of Brandy.
In fact, I like just about any drink with lemon but growing lemon trees this far north is out of the question.

If life tosses you a lemon..... make lemonade. Heck, why not go crazy and make a Gin Sour?! Sounds great!

I must try all the above.

Pink Gin gets you where you want to go, and though it goes without saying, a well made negroni cannot be beaten.

If you are interested, the recipe I used was 2 oz Hengricks, 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice, less than a tsp demerara syrup splash Regan's orange bitters. Shake over ice pour into old fashion glass with fresh ice and lemon twist. The demerara can obviously be used to taste. I like mine tart

Just made one this weekend. I believe I've found a new drink for the rotation. Think I might have done one dash too many on the bitters, but definitely good.
