Gillette Vest Pocket Made in England

Thought I'd post this here following the discussion on the Vest Pocket models in the acquisitions thread. I picked it up a few months back.

It seems as well as the Made in USA ones and ones stamped simply Made in Germany, there was also a Made in England version.

The case was lined with purple felt, but it was in pretty bad shape and had come loose. I've still got it but haven't gotten around to trying to clean it and reattach it yet.

Nice. One question, though... I only see half the handle in the case. Does the top half fit inside the bottom half when stored?

I just won this little Gillette on ebay a couple of days ago. It hasn't arrived yet. It looks like that little handle is all there is to it. Does anyone know anything about this one?

You're sure that's a Gillette? Looks like a German travel razor vintage around World War II. I don't remember a brand, and as I recall, there's no brand on the razor. I've never seen a true Gillette travel razor with a two-piece handle.

The base plate of the head is stamped with the Gillette Trademark and made in USA. The handle has a crack at the top and another one at the bottom (sure sounds like a Gillette. ) The case is stamped on the back "Made in Germany".

Well what is the razor that I posted up top and the one in the acquisitions thread if not Gillette travel razors with a two-piece handle?
The handles are identical in both as are the heads which carry the Gillette logo. The cases also look to be of the same design. The only thing that differs is the made in stamp, USA vs England.
Are you suggesting that the heads are not original to these handles?

Nope, I'm suggesting that this is the first Gillette travel razor with a two-piece handle that I've seen.

Now, I want one.

There were some 2 piece handle techs, and old types. One of the old type handles in 2 pieces looked very much like a ball-end handle, but with a hole in the bottom of the ball for threading the top part into for storage. The two piece tech I have works much the same way, but with a design like the fat handle techs, but there were other designs too.
The one in the first post looks like this one from mr. razor.

I have one of these, but have seen that exact same handle on german old type clones, so I remain skeptical.

It is, isn't it? Looks like a desk organizer. The variety of just Gillette products continually amazes me.
