Gillette Tuckaway. Excellent shave but not my prefered razor

I have a Gillette Tuckaway set that I haven't used in years. I have been tempted to put it in BTS but it is a lovely set and I have kept it in my storage.

Today after 3 years thought to give it a try. I put a Rockwell handle in it.

What can I say? Excellent shave. Fantastic razor. What a smooth shave using a cheap new Astra Stainless Steel blade! Impressed!

My main regret about this razor is that it doesn't cover the blade tabs, which is a no go for me. This is why I don't use it.

I wish there was modern copy of it covering the blade tabs.

However this shave made me think that Gillette designed the perfect razor but we don't want to understand it.

You should check out the iKon B1 Deluxe. It has the same geometry of the Gillette New Deluxe, but I believe that it also covers the blade tabs.

It is a New Improved Gold Tuckaway made between 1927 and 1928.

Mine is a 1921 and thank god I don’t have any issue with the blade tabs
I concur it is a mighty fine shaver, actually I prefer it to the New Long Comb.

I've posted this one from 1924 before but from my perspective it is the rarest razor I own. Those are my initials on the case, engraved almost 100 years ago.

I've never had a chance to try one but you really got to give it to the tuckaway, Its a looker for sure

It’s was a then new design but still based on the old 3 hole blades introduced with the Old Type. It was the high-end model of the 20ies.

Having your initials on the case makes that a rare find, indeed. It is also quite lovely.
