Gillette Superspeed no date question

I picked this Superspeed up today. There is no date code. Is there a range of years this would fall under and would this razor be all brass?

The No Date Code Superspeeds (at least the US version) were made I think from 1947 until they started back up with date codes sometime in 1951. If it is marked on the underside with "Patent Nos. on Pkg" its a 1950.

I think they were nickel plated brass construction. Hopefully a real expert will happen along shortly.

That's a nice example, a solid smooth shaver

^This. There was the change around ‘48 to the notched center bar; then the change in wording in ‘50.

Congrats, That’s a beauty! One of the best shavers out there.

I used a 1953 Superspeed exclusively for six years. (My grandfather’s). When I finally decided to get a replacement - I got a pre-date code model - it kicked off my RAD, which now shows no sign of ending. But I was more than happy with nothing but a Superspeed!

They have been called the 1940s. Super Speed. Great shavers. The first of the Super Speeds. I have two. One knotched and one before the knotch.

Thanks. I picked up two at an antique mall that are notched, no date, so I guess that makes them ‘48 or ‘49. Both all brass. Great mild razors.
