Gillette Superspeed 1973

Gents,

Just picked up a Gillette 1973 birth year razor. Has a black handle, and is in excellent condition. I am a DE shave newbie, less than a month in.

I started off with the EBay Wesihi (knew instantly, 1st shave that it was a travel razor), picked up a Merkur Model 178, been using that pretty well for the past two weeks, and just today I shaved with the Gillette 73', must say I like the "heavy" Merkur razor, however I think this Superspeed is going to really move me along in the DE shaving morning routine. I seemed to shave more "efficiently" with the Superspeed.

Is it because it is lighter? Thoughts on this razor for anyone that has used one?

It has a mild blade to bar gap, so it makes it easier and more forgiving to use. I find the Super Speed makes a great daily shaver. Although I prefer a more aggressive razor after a few days beard growth. Astra SP blades tend to work well with these razors IMO. Enjoy your razor!
