Gillette Slim Aristocrat - were they gold plated or gold wash?

I'm considering buying a vintage 1960's Gillette Slim Adjustable Aristocrat (gold) and am wondering if these were gold plated or gold washed (like the old Gillette Tech Gold's). Does anybody know? How durable is the gold finish? If it's pretty cruddy, how likely is it that I can clean it thoroughly without damaging the finish? Ultrasonic or no ultrasonic?

I usually follow the typical soak in hot water & dawn, then toothbrushing with scrubbing bubbles and possibly toothpaste. Sometimes CLR for stubborn mineral deposits.

It was a 22 Carat gold plating according to the Gillette Adjustable resource website Aristocrat Slim – Gillette Adjustable Razors - https://gilletteadjustable.com/home/aristocrat-slim/

I am assuming this is more durable than the gold washed examples.

Here is also an old thread discussing the durability of the plating which also goes into some detail about the different types of gold finish used. The Aristocrat appears gold plated from this.

If you use the terms wash and plated to determine the thickness of the metal, then Slims are gold washed (over nickel).
The last Gillettes with a gold plate are Single rings and maybe some New improveds.

Ok, thanks. I'll probably take a chance on the gold slim.

I've noticed the old Gillette Gold Tech's seem to have pretty delicate finish and wear off easily. Learned from experience that baking soda & hydrogen peroxide with toothbrushing will remove or lighten the gold significantly. 😳
